Reusing plastic? How is that?

I was reading my Around The Globe tab in my iGoogle, and lots of people are using old plastic material to make creative things. They are using such materials as, plastic bottles, milk jugs, soda bottles. The people who live in Kenya, are using plastic containers to put on calf’s nose’s so they don’t sulk their mother too much because of the drought.  Another guy re-used plastic bottles to make a vertical Shamba. He used a coke bottle and a water container it looks like. A guy is running a bird feeder shop. He is using the plastic bottles. He cuts holes into them so the birds can get at it, and then fills in with bird feed. He is selling them for approximately $2.50 US dollars. The First Eight Days.

The first eight days have been wierd. Some days really good, some are bad. Some fast, others slow.  This week the days have went fast in the afternoon. In the morning im always hungry for some reason, then I go home for lunch and im not hungry. The afternoons are fast because we have the Artist in the School is here. He is teaching us hip hop dance, we’ve been practicing and learning dance moves everyday. The three day week we had, for me was awful actually. I was in a class and we had to run laps. I was running beside my friends when one of them kicks a pylon, so the teacher like stops me from running and yells at me. I was like ” Dude, I didnt kick any pylons.” I was telling the truth so all of my friends had to say that it was actually someone else. (Which it was,) for her to belive me. Today is going good so far, (its Friday.) It’s going good because we just had our last session with are break dancing instructor, and we got our routine all good. So now, all we have to do is present them to the rest of the school, and they present theirs aswell. We presented ours last, not including the advanced class. I liked performing it. It was fun, and fun watching the other classes do theirs.

I am a guy who enjoys lots of things. I like to hang out with friends, sleep, eat, and play Xbox 360. I don’t play very many games on it, I only play Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead. I have a xbox live account, im not going to tell you what it is. Haha. I love to eat,  my favourite food is probably steak. My favourite colour is red. I don’t have alot of red clothes though, usually they are blue or white. I also like cookies.

Back to Blogging.

So I haven’t been writing blog posts for 2 months or something. I have been doing other things, and we don’t have to do any weekly blog posts right now either. Since I have gotten my slide show presentation done, I have to write a blog post.

I have bought  a skateboard. It is an Element board,Bam venom. It is an 8 inch across. Most of my friends have .5’s though. I want to get a 7.5 to see how it rides, and how it feels. To see if I can land more tricks than on an 8. I also need to get a new pair of shoes. Mine are getting really worn, and dirty. I really like DC shoes. My in-school shoes are DC’s and so are my normal shoes. My old other pair were Dc as well, I used to have a pair of Etnies, but they didn’t fit any more haha. I kinda want to get Circa shoes, I have never got a pair before.

This just reminded me of last night. I was hanging out with some friends and one of them was taking pictures of me when i was skateboarding. I was also wearing a huge major suit hahaha. It is red, and it is so big on me. I could fit like 3 other people in it with me at the same time. The legs in it are really big. The bottoms of the legs usually go over my shoes   .  When I was skateboarding to my friends house everyone looked at me because I was so different looking. I was laughing the whole time, when I got to my friends house he said you actually wore it? and I was like yeah, I told you I would. It was so funny because when we got to my other friends house, I was just so awesome looking.

Smart Set 2

For our Smart set we are making a Wiki page. A Wiki page is kind of hard to make and organize. They are really fun to make though. At first I really didn’t know how to make a Wiki page, or how to put in pictures, videos and all that other kind of multi media things. Now that I know how to put in pictures and stuff I kind of like it. It is so fun, it doesn’t even feel like school work.

I still  have some research to do on the things that I couldn’t find, but so far I am doing pretty good.  There are 13 things that we are supposed to get, I have about 10 and only 7 or so on my Wiki space. I have lots of my stuff on a google doc right now, but I am copying it over th my Wiki space, and putting it into sentances. If other teachers from anywhere are reading this I would really reccommend you to do this with your class.

Song Qiang has published a new book. The book is called China is Unhappy, he also wrote the book China Can Say No. He was not the only one who wrote Chins is Unhappy. Some other well known writers helped too. The other well known writers are..

Song Qiuang  also has the expirence of a journalist,editor, and a T.V script writer. All of the other writers that helped all have expirence in lots of different things. The team is composed of famous people from the media in China,  cultural workers, and scholars. The book was published on the 60th anniversary of the founding of People Republic of China.

The Wave Chapters 9-12

At the start of chapter 9 everything was still going good. Then as I got further through these chapters, it started to get very interesting.

Ben Ross noticed that his history class was expanding, he also noticed that they were completing their assignments easily and early. Some of the students that Ben heard talking said, that they really liked the wave, that discipline is good for them. Ben was very proud of himself, he broke up the popularity contest in the whole school. Then the story went to the publications office. Laurie and some other Grapevine staff were there too.  They were there for an editorial meeting. All the staff didn’t have a story. One girl went to a movie and didn’t write a review of it because it was “to good”. Another girl was supposed to write on fashions, but their wasn’t any new ones since the wave formed. It is now just a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. It was just that because the wave had broken up the popularity contest, so people didn’t buy new clothes to be on top.  One of the staff told Laurie that a 10th grader punched a hole in a window. Why? because he wanted to prove that you could punch a hole in a window without cutting yourself. He got 12 stitches.  The rest of the staff told Laurie that everyone wanted to know about the Wave, she didn’t really want to write about it. She said that she didn’t know if she could.

Lauries mom came in her room and told Laurie how she couldn’t believe how Robert has changed. She said that before the Wave he would get bad grades and sleep in class, and now hes working in class,getting good grades. Mrs.Saunders said that after the Wave was over he would just go back to what it was before.

The principal called Ben to his office one morning, they had a discussion about the wave. The principal told him to keep an eye on the wave. In case it got out of control.

Laurie saw a letter in the publications office. She began to read it and there was no name on it and it said that him and 2 of his friends were walking down a hallway, and they all got bullied to join the Wave. The one boy didn’t though, he just said he didn’t want to join and he walked off with his friends. The person who bullied them in was a senior and he said “Join before it’s too late. In the letter it says Too late for what?

Somehow people got the idea that Ben Ross gave the “orders” to put up lots of banners and poster about the Wave. He was walking down the hallway and he noticed Robert behind him. Robert kept following him until Ben said what are you doing? Robert said that he was his bodyguard. AT first Ben said that he didn’t need one or want one, but after awhile he just OK Robert you can be my bodyguard. Laurie was at her locker when she heard a bunch of shouting, so she rushed to the window and saw 2 boys fighting, and a bunch of kids around them. One of the fighters was Brian, the other was the Junior that was trying to steal Brian’s position on the football team.  Then David came by, he told Laurie that they were going to be late for the rally. They started a big fight because Laurie said she didn’t want to go, at he ned of that fight they broke up. Later that night her dad came in her room and told her that Boy got beaten up after school. The person that beat him up was in the Wave, the other one was a Jewish boy. Laurie just couldn’t belive it. Laurie told her dad that she was going to expose the whole thing.

MY favorite part was when the author was describing how the Wave was turning into something else. Like how the students randomly said the Ben Ross had ordered them to put posters and banner up everywhere int he school. Why the boys would be fighting, and what they were fighting about. I mean why would you fight someone because they didn’t want to join the wave? I really think that the Wave is turning into a cult or something. A member was fighting a boy who didn’t want to join, that seems like a cult thing. Like the Nazi’s killing Jews. At the end of the story a boy beat up a Jewish boy, is that what the Wave is turnin into? Are they following the path of the Nazi’s?

Dear Ben Ross,

Why are you still taking the Wave farther? You have got to stop it before everyone whos not in the Wave gets beat up. I mean, one boy got beat uo by Brian, who is in the Wave. Another boy qwas beaten up too, he was  aJewish boy. Do you think that your students are following the Nazi’s ways? First beating up people that arent the same? thne move on to killing? All I know is that you have to stop the Wave before its too late. How are you going to stop the Wave though? I already imagine that you want to stop the Wave after hearing about this. I know I would want to stop it. I have some questions for you.

Did you know that the Wave would turn into this? I hope you didn’t know becausee then it would  be your fault for people getting beat up.

The Wave chapters 5-8

Chapters 5-8 were pretty important. Except for chapter 7, there is really no information in this chapter. In chapters 5-8, Ben Ross had wrote on the board STRENGTH THROUGH DISCIPLINE. A student had come into the class and asked what it was, and Ben said to wait until everyone was in the classroom. When everyone was in he made them practice sitting up straight and posture. Then he had them get up and stand in the hallway and tell them to go to their desks. He said that it was a disorganized mess. So they all made up a plan and put the people who have to walk the farthest at the front of the line. Ben Ross also handed out cards and some of them and a X on the back, if you got a card that had a X on the back you were a monitor. What a monitor does is look around the Wave members and if they see someone not following the rules they have to tell Ben Ross. Laurie had told her mom and dad about what they were doing in class, her mom didn’t really like it. Her dad on the other hand, doesn’t really mind it, he says what ever makes kids listen these days.  At lunch the next day, everyone sat together. Even the class loner Robert was sitting with everyone.

A part that surprised me was that the whole class obeyed Mr. Ross, even Robert the class loser. Robert usually doesn’t do anything, just sleeps through the class. Now he actually participates in class, and hangs out with people. How everyone sat together after just one class. Mr. Ross showed them that everybody was equal, and that if they didn’t think that everyone was equal they couldn’t be in the wave.

I thin that in the next chapters that things will get way out of hand. That it will be way to much, there will be way to many members, and some bad things will happen. Ben Ross will go to far, and that will be how the experiment goes to far. Something really bad will happen, the Wave club will turn into something like a cult. Or  it will turn into something really bad.

Smart set

Our teacher told us that we had to do this project. The project is called Smart Set. What you have to do find out about the place that you picked. You  had to pick a place that wasn’t in North America, I picked Beijing. Two people can’t pick the same place. Yo is u have to find out a lot of information from this city.

What you are trying to do is find a good city to open up an office, you need to know about that place is the population stats, major cities ( around that place) transportation links,information on government, map,climate,landmarks,services,geography, cost of airfare, cost of apartment/house,major economic activities,examples of artistic expression.

This is just information on the project.

I have found tourist attractions,  population stats and house prices, and lots of other things, I only need a few more to go.

The Wave Chapters 1-4

Chapters 1-4 were pretty good. I though that the book wouldn’t interest me at all, but it has started to interest me form chapters 3 and 4.

In chapters 1-4 alot of things happened. Let me sum it up for you.

It starts off introducing one of the main characters, Laurie Saunders. It says that she likes to chew on the ends of Bic pens. She doesn’t smoke, instead she chews on the ends of Bic pens, she also works on the school news paper. She has worked for the school news paper for 3 years now. Laurie has a friend named Amy, they both get really good grades in school. In Ben Ross’s history class they were the only two people who got A’s on the paper.

Ben thought about homework now, he thought that kids couldn’t be bothered to do their homework. He asked a 9th grader one time, and he said social life is more important than home work.

A boy named Robert came into the classroom after almost every came in, he never brushed his hair, was a chubby boy, and had shirttails. He was often bullied by a student named Brad.

They watched  a little movie on Hitler, Robert, slept threw the whole movie. While every body else was watching it. After the movie ended every one looked shocked. They saw about the concentration camps, and torture. They all couldn’t belive that a person could kill all of those people.

After that it was lunch period and David, who was Laurie’s boyfriends scarfed down his lunch and most of Laurie’s aswell.  Laurie and Amy went to the Grapevine office, that was the school news paper name. Amy lit up a smoke and sat by the window so all the smoke would go out, and if someone came in she could drop out the window. Two practical jokers came by and said they were the Principal and Amy dropped her smoke and looked for a stick of gum or a  mint. They came in and Amy yelled at them and said that they made her waste a perfectly good smoke.

Ben went to the library and got a bunch of books on Nazi’s and Hitler, he went home with them and his wife cam home at 11 0′clock pm. She told him that she won a game against someone that she couldn’t beat in tennis today, he really didn’t care. He was to busy in his books. She gave him a kiss on the forehead and went to bed, and told him to get some rest.

My favourite part in these four chapters would have to be the part where the class is watching that film on the concentration camps. It’s not my favourite part because I agreed with what Adolf did, but because the author described the camps with such amazing detail. It made me feel like I was there, watching all of this happening.  The first time I had read this part it kind of made me want to throw up, because of all the horrific details that the author put in it. It also made me want to just shut the book and put it down, and never read it again. I couldn’t do that though. That part made me feel angry at the Nazi’s and Hitler. it also made me feel sad because 10 million, with an M, people were killed. One man, killed 10 million people, 6 or so million of them were Jewish. Almost wiping out the Jewish religion from Europe. Hitler himself was part Jewish, he hated Jewish people. He thought that the Jewish people were the destruction of the country. If he hated Jewish people so much why didn’t he just kill himself? Eventually he did, after the war was one he was in a bunker, he OD on some drugs. (OD means over dosed).

A part that surprised me was when after they had watched that film, one of the boys was still hungry! I read this before lunch time too, when I got home I really didn’t eat anything.  I felt so sick from jus reading about it, adn they had to watch it. The boy ate 2 plates of food from the cafiteria. He ate his and his girl friend’s, which was alot of food. If I was him, and I ate that much food. I would probably throw up after watching that film. I’m not kidding, I have a strong stomache also.

Call on the lights!

On the Dvice blog, I was reading about some places in Germany where you can call the town office type thing and ask them to turn on street lights. So if you were walking home alone you could have the lights on when ever you wanted, and the places that are doing  this it says that they are saving 25% more energy than they were before they starting doing this. The lights only turn on for 15 minutes though. I think that’s enough time to walk by, don’t you?

People who walk dogs can call the town and ask them to turn on a route of lights so they can enjoy the view of the town. Even if it iwas 3 in the morning.
